Can Chiropractic Care Help Someone Without Pain?…

Let’s identify what ‘help’ means. According to Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary, ‘HELP’ is defined as:  to do something that makes it easier for someone to do a job, to deal with a problem, etc.: to aid or assist someone, : to make something less severe, : to make something more pleasant or easier to deal with, : to give (yourself or another person) food or drink. Since we are not offering you a drink in this blog, we will be concentrating on explaining how Chiropractic can aide, assist, make less severe, or make something more pleasant! Actually, we will also leave out explaining how Chiropractic can make something less severe since that is commonly related to pain.

How could Chiropractic care make it easier for someone to do a job? Let’s take a female Zumba practitioner for example. She is trying to ask her body to perform certain moves in a certain pattern at a certain pace in time with the instructor. Her body has to visually take in the information, process the moves and send information out to her muscles, and her body has to be able to sense the movement and shift her weight as she plants her feet and twists and shakes to the rhythm of the music and process what the instructor is doing. Seems like a lot? Well… it is! This isn’t even considering how the body is maintaining blood oxygen levels, blood pressure, digesting her organic juice from 30 minutes earlier and maintaining proper blood sugar levels!

Ever thought about how all off this is regulated without a conscious decision from you? There is really a lot of information going back and forth in the body in an instant. This system is known in anatomy and physiology as the Master System, or the Nervous System. The central nervous system is contained and protected in the skull and spinal column. The nerves that branch out to every section of the body are called the peripheral nervous system. Information comes out of the brain, down the spinal cord, out to the toes or finger tips, gives a command, picks up new information and zips back to the brain for processing and assimilation of the information so adaptations and alterations can be made and the cycle starts again.

A research study by Taylor and Murphy (2008) concluded that chiropractic care reverses maladaptations (a trait that has become more harmful than helpful) in sensorimotor (feeling, sensing and muscle control) integration and improving motor control. It suggests that an improperly functioning spine may lead to changes in the brain’s ability to process motor control properly. This information effects every movement of every person of every day! It could be a Zumba practitioner, an older person with some balance issues, or even a person with cerebral palsy that has major coordination issues. The results of Chiropractic care can be dramatic.

In closing, the way the nervous system is improved through Chiropractic care can “HELP” with almost any process from something as basic as walking, grabbing a spoon, weekly Zumba or even a high level gymnast. At Health By Logic in Beavercreek, OH, we are committed to helping you to be your best, no matter what stage of performance you are interested in!
